The 2nd international business congress

The 2nd edition of the international business congress arrives on November 15, 2019, under the theme “Technology, Globalization, and Business”, featuring the High Patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic.

Two years after the last edition, AIDA CCI will gather political, economic, and business figures at the Aveiro Exhibition Park for a day of knowledge sharing and a debate on the future of companies, at a time when digital transformation is revolutionizing business, opportunities, and threats. Follow our event agenda for more updates.

The event aims to dignify the role of companies and entrepreneurs as enterprising agents and generators of wealth and social development in their territories, discuss the focus on technology and globalization as business strategies, the success of Portuguese companies and technology in the world, as well as affirm the Aveiro District, and Portugal, as an important player in the smart industry scenario.

The event, in a Round Table format, will consist of several panels: “The trade war and geopolitics in the world”, “Transformation: Success stories”, “The business challenges and opportunities in Europe, USA, and China”, and “Technology and globalization”.

Similar to the previous edition, more than 200 participants are expected to attend, including business leaders and official entities.

• Fernando Castro | President of AIDA CCI: Trained in Accounting, he is the Vice-Chairman of the Board of ALIANÇA – Vinhos de Portugal S.A., Chairman of the General Council of the Bairrada Wine Commission, Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Portugal-China Chamber of Cooperation and Development, Vice-Chairman of the General Council of CIP, and Chairman of the General Assembly of APAsombra.
• José Ribau Esteves | Mayor of Aveiro: With a degree in Zootechnical Engineering, he was an alderman and Mayor of Ílhavo, and President of the Oceano XXI Association (managing entity of the Sea Knowledge and Economy Cluster). He is Vice-President of the Directive Council of ANMP and Member of the European Union Committee of the Regions.sombra.
• João Correia Neves | Secretary of State for the Economy: Degree in Economics and Master in Administration and Public Policies. He was a Board Member of Laboratórios BIAL, Member of the Directive Council of IAPMEI, I.P., Chief of Staff to the Minister of Economy and Innovation, General Director of the Ministry of Economy’s Enterprise sector, General Director of Industry.sombra.
• Jorge Braga de Macedo | Lisbon Academy of Sciences: CG&G-NOVASBE; Full Professor emeritus at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He was a director at EcFin (EC), Minister of Finance, President of the CD/OECD, and the Tropical Scientific Research Institute, having taught in Luanda, Yale, Princeton, UCP, and Paris.sombra.
• Rui Baptista | Journalist at Lusa Agency: A journalist since 1988, he belonged to the initial team of Público, where he was national politics editor. He was a Media and Politics commentator on RTP, RR, and Rádio Clube, and founder of Inimigo Público. He was the press advisor to the Prime Minister in the XIX Constitutional Government.sombra.
• Rui Leão Martinho | President of the Order of Economists: He was the president of several financial institutions (e.g., Deutsche Bank de Investimento) and Insurance Companies, held management and administration roles at Banque Nationale de Paris, Locapor, and the Investment Societies MDM and Euro-financeira.sombra.
• Clovis Martines | President of the Luso-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with complementary training in environment, alternative energies, oil, and natural gas processing. He has vast professional experience, highlighted by his work with Degremont and Davy International/TrafalgarHouse.sombra.
• António Figueiredo Lopes | President of the EuroDefense-Portugal Association: With a Law degree, he built a professional career in national and European public service. He was an MP in the Assembly of the Republic and the European Parliament, Minister of National Defence, Minister of Internal Administration, and Secretary of State in several constitutional governments.sombra.
• Filipe Vasconcelos de Romão | President of the Portugal-South Atlantic Chamber of Commerce: Professor at the Autonomous University of Lisbon and invited professor at ISCTE-IUL and ORT University in Uruguay. International politics commentator on RTP and Antena 1.sombra.
• Nuno Mangas | President of IAPMEI: Electrotechnical Engineer, PhD in Education Sciences. • Pedro Janeiro | Manager at Deloitte: Working in strategy, innovation, and Industry 4.0. He was an assistant to the Minister of Education and Science in the XIX Constitutional Government. • Gaspar D’Orey | CEO of DOTT: Civil Engineer with a Master in Finance, he studied and worked in several countries, had his own StartUp, and worked for companies like Sonae, Mota-Engil, and Orey Financial. An entrepreneur and proactive leader, he manages a team of over 30 people divided between Lisbon and Porto.sombra.
• Nuno Couto | Digital Transformation Director at Worten: Responsible for Digital Transformation initiatives at Worten, following extensive experience in mobile apps, cloud, analytics, and agile at Celfocus, PT, and Deloitte. Master in Electrotechnical Engineering from IST with distinction and an MBA from Católica Lisbon & Nova SBE.sombra.
• Vasco Falcão | General Manager of Konica Minolta Portugal and Spain: His experience focuses on Information Technologies and Financial Management. He was Chief Financial and Technology Officer of Konica Minolta, and in 2013, he took over Marketing for the South Cluster (Spain, France, Italy, and Portugal). He holds an MBA in Management and Administration from AESE/IESE.sombra.
• Pedro Morais Leitão | President of PRIO SGPS: He is also a non-executive director of Pharol SGPS. He was the chairman of the board of directors of ONI Telecom, CEO of UnYLeYa in Brazil and Portugal. Degree in Business Management from the Catholic University, with a master’s in Management from Northwestern University.sombra.
• Luís Castro Henriques | Chairman of the Board of AICEP: Holds a Master’s in Economics and an MBA from INSEAD. He was a member of the Board of Directors, overseeing Investment, Financial, and Commercial Management at AICEP. He coordinated the Marketing Strategy, Customer Experience, and Marketing Analytics areas at EDP Group and was also a lecturer.sombra.
• Rui Gidro | Partner at Deloitte: Trained in Economics, he is an expert in the public sector, business associations, and tourism, collaborating on strategic planning initiatives, smart cities, business network creation, digital transformation, and innovation.sombra.
• Pedro Penalva | First Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Portugal: With over 25 years of professional experience, he holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from IST. He was CEO of AIG in Portugal, and is currently CEO of Aon Portugal, member of the Iberian Executive Committee, and Chief Commercial Officer of Multinationals for the EMEA region.sombra.
• Luís Mira Amaral | President of the Industry and Energy Councils of CIP: He is chairman of BUSY ANGELS S.A., consultant at FNWAY CONSULTING for Research, Technological Development, and Innovation, and member of the General Council of CIP. Electrotechnical Engineer (IST), Master in Economics (NOVASBE), and Post-Graduate in General Management (STANFORD) and Bank Management (INSEAD).sombra.
• Carlos Tavares | President of Banco BEM and Montepio: He led the CMVM (2005 – 2016) and held high-level roles in a set of financial institutions. He was Minister of Economy (2002/2004) and Secretary of State for the Treasury (1989/1991).sombra.

• Miguel Almeida | General Manager of CISCO Portugal: Degree in Marketing and PR, with over 20 years of professional experience, he worked as a Sales & Channel Manager and was responsible for the Mid-market, Enterprise, and Public Sector.
