AIDA CCI promotes “Aveiro 5.0 Export” at Expo 2025 Osaka
The AIDA CCI — Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the District of Aveiro will be present at the Portugal Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka from September 1st to 3rd, with a clear mission: to internationally promote the region’s technological forefront and sustainability through the strategic project “Aveiro 5.0 Export”. This initiative aims to position the district’s industrial ecosystem as a hub of innovation and a partner of excellence in the global market, with a special focus on Japan.
AIDA CCI’s participation is part of a broader context of celebrating the ties between Portugal and Japan, driven by the national initiative “Osaka in Portugal”. Promoted by AICEP, this cultural program anticipates the spirit of Expo 2025, whose theme is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, by bringing a series of events across the country that reflect the dialogue between the two cultures.
Spotlight on the “Aveiro 5.0 Export” Project
At the core of AIDA CCI’s participation will be the presentation of the “Aveiro 5.0 Export” project. Through an exhibition module integrating videos, images, and objects, the competitiveness of the region’s key sectors will be demonstrated, consolidating the “Aveiro 5.0” brand as a synonym for innovation and quality. The goal is to attract direct investment and generate new business opportunities.
The design of the exhibition space, inspired by a traditional Moliceiro boat, creates a powerful symbolic association between tradition, industry, and leisure, reflecting the identity of a territory where history and modernity coexist. Subsequently, this approach values both local heritage, such as salt, and the region’s industrial evolution.
Strategic Alignment with the “Ocean, Blue Dialogue” Theme
AIDA CCI’s proposal is perfectly aligned with the theme of the Portugal Pavilion at Expo 2025, “Ocean, Blue Dialogue”. The project promotes value chains where the Blue Economy plays a fundamental role, reinforcing the “Ocean” component. Simultaneously, the focus on creating a collaborative dialogue between companies and international partners embodies the essence of “Blue Dialogue”, positioning the Aveiro district as a strategic partner in building a sustainable future. The main sectors to be highlighted include:
- Metalworking and Microelectronics: Demonstrating technological capacity and innovation in cutting-edge industries.
- Habitat Sectors: Highlighting excellence and design in ceramics, cork, and other construction materials.
- Blue Economy: Presenting sustainable solutions that add value to marine resources.
“Osaka in Portugal”: A Comprehensive Cultural Program
While AIDA CCI prepares its presence in Osaka, the Portuguese public can immerse themselves in Japanese culture through a vast program of events taking place throughout the country. This initiative reinforces the strategic importance of the Expo and the exchange between the two nations. Highlights include:
- Exhibition at MUDE: In Lisbon, the exhibition “Osaka – 55 Years Later, Designing the Future” revisits Portugal’s participation in the 1970 Expo.
- Japanese Film Cycle: Cinema São Jorge, also in the capital, will screen iconic works by directors such as Akira Kurosawa and Hayao Miyazaki.
- Exhibitions and Festivals: Initiatives such as “My Plan for Japan” in Porto, the FÓLIO literary festival in Óbidos, and the “Japan. Return-Trip” Festival in Lamego complete the cultural offering.
Therefore, AIDA CCI’s participation at Expo 2025 Osaka represents a strategic opportunity for companies from the Aveiro region to assert themselves on one of the most important stages of the global economy, actively contributing to the global dialogue on innovation and sustainability.
