Aveiro district sectors in the spotlight at Expo 2025 Osaka
From September 1st to 3rd, AIDA CCI — the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the District of Aveiro is present at the Portugal Pavilion at the Expo 2025 Osaka to promote the innovative Aveiro district sectors. This participation reinforces the commitment to projecting the region as a hub of innovation, quality, and international competitiveness by presenting sustainable and high-quality products to the world.
This initiative is part of the “Aveiro 5.0 Export” project, supported by COMPETE 2030, Portugal 2030, and the European Union, which promotes the “Aveiro 5.0” brand. The objective is to position the region’s business fabric as modern, innovative, and fully prepared for the twin digital and environmental transition.
A Strategic Platform for Internationalization
The presence in Osaka is seen as a crucial step for the global growth of the region’s companies. In the words of Elisabete Rita, Executive VP and Director-General of AIDA CCI, “More than just a participation, this is a strategic internationalization platform that opens doors to new markets and strengthens the position of the Aveiro district as an exporting benchmark for the Portuguese and European industry.”
An Exhibition that Connects Tradition and Future
At the heart of the exhibition, a moliceiro boat in an exhibition format integrates images of the territory and its productive sectors, creating a symbolic link between tradition, leisure, and industry. The display also includes the presentation of a video that highlights Aveiro’s salt as both a historical and current heritage, underlining its role in industrial evolution, quality of life, and sustainable tourism.
This approach reflects the identity of a district known for tourism but also for its strong industrial tradition in areas like cork, ceramics, and metalworking, which today are combined with the cutting-edge fields of microelectronics and semiconductors. Therefore, Aveiro embraces innovation as the value that projects the future based on its rich history.

During the three-day event, AIDA CCI will promote, through videos, images, and iconic pieces, the competitiveness of the main Aveiro district sectors. Among them, the highlights are:

- Habitat Sector: Showcasing excellence in the design and sustainability of materials such as ceramics and cork.
