Consultation on Trade Barriers in Mexico and Central America
The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) at AIDA CCI, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Economic Activities (DGAE), informs that the next meeting of the Market Access Advisory Committee (MAAC) will discuss trade barriers identified in the markets of Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.
Currently, the following barriers are registered on the European Union’s Access2Markets Portal:
- Mexico: 10 active barriers, impacting the sectors of Agriculture and Fisheries, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Wood, Paper and Pulp, Other Industries, and Horizontal Barriers (intellectual property, public procurement).
- Costa Rica: 1 active barrier in the Agriculture and Fisheries sector.
- Nicaragua: 1 active barrier in the Agriculture and Fisheries sector.
- Panama: 3 active barriers in the Agriculture and Fisheries sector.
- El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras: No active barriers currently registered.
We invite companies to share information on the impact of these barriers, as well as on other trade difficulties that persist in these markets and may not yet be identified. The feedback collected will be essential to support the European Commission‘s actions in resolving export obstacles.
🗓️ We request that responses be sent using the attached form by December 8, 2025.
