Discontinuation of the Method for Filing VAT Refund Requests
It is no longer possible to submit refund requests to other Member States through the Java application.
To make new requests, you must use the new VAT Refund area within the European Union at https://iva.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/vatrefund.
For Certified Accountants: To make new requests, use the new VAT Refund area within the European Union > Submit Request (by CC) at https://iva.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/vatrefund/entregar-pedido-cc.
The possibility of sending requests through the installable (Offline) version will be maintained until the end of March 2023. However, this version does not allow submission of refund requests for Northern Ireland.
The request format, published on the Tax Authority’s website under Support for Taxpayers > Computer Support – File Format, remains in effect.
