Consultation on Market Access Barriers to Canada and Turkey (03/2025)
The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) at AIDA CCI, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Economic Activities (DGAE), informs that the upcoming meeting of the Market Access Advisory Committee (MAAC) will focus on market access to Canada and Turkey.
This session will address specific trade barriers affecting European companies operating in these countries, with a special focus on the most impacted economic sectors.
Canada: 7 Active Barriers
Canada currently presents 7 active trade barriers, primarily impacting the following sectors:
- Agriculture and Fisheries;
- Aircraft, Automotive, and Shipbuilding;
- Wines and Spirits;
- Services (e.g., tax on music streaming).
Turkey: 14 Active Barriers
Turkey currently records 14 active trade barriers, covering a wide range of sectors:
- Agriculture and Fisheries, Chemicals, and Pharmaceuticals;
- Services and Energy;
- Textiles and Leather, Wines and Spirits;
- Horizontal Barriers (including public procurement, conformity assessments, and import surveillance).
Participation: Share Your Input
We are collecting contributions from Portuguese companies exporting to these markets. AIDA CCI invites you to share information regarding:
- The concrete impact of the currently identified barriers on your business;
- Any additional difficulties or unregistered obstacles hindering access to Canada and Turkey.
This information is essential to prepare a strategic approach with the European Commission, aiming for the resolution of these commercial barriers.
