Aveiro 5.0 Export
The Aveiro 5.0 Export project promoted by AIDA CCI, presented under SIAC – Collective Actions – Internationalization, notice COMPETE2030-2024-4, runs from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026.
Its main objective is to strengthen the internationalization of SMEs in the Aveiro district (NUTS II North and Centre), highlighting the technologically advanced economic fabric of the District. With a multisectoral approach, the project promotes the most competitive sectors, aligned with the smart specialization areas of the regions.
The creation of the “Aveiro 5.0” brand aims to promote the industrial fabric as modern and innovative, emphasizing its ability to incorporate digital and environmental transitions and integrate into major global supply chains. The goal is to create a collaborative structure for the internationalization of SMEs, with continuous impact on the economy and stronger external market orientation for companies, also including prospecting, promotion, and capacity-building actions. The focus is on mature markets such as France, the USA, Japan, and emerging markets in Central and Eastern Europe.
Aveiro 5.0 Export has the following strategic objectives:
- Strengthen the internationalization of SMEs in the industrial ecosystem of the Aveiro district by establishing their notoriety in consolidated markets, in the EU (France), USA and Japan, as well as in emerging markets in Central and Eastern Europe, notably Poland, Hungary, Romania, Lithuania, and Slovakia, thus contributing to the increase of exports;
- Invest in the integrated international promotion of top brands/products, goods, and services from the Aveiro District through the “Aveiro 5.0” brand, enabling its association with a modern, innovative industrial fabric capable of incorporating key contemporary competitiveness factors, such as digital and environmental transitions in its production processes, and present high-quality, sustainable, and sophisticated products to global markets;
- Establish a collective strategy and a collaborative structure for the internationalization of the business fabric in the targeted territories, mobilizing all relevant stakeholders (SMEs, academic and R&D institutions, start-ups, large companies, sectoral associations, municipalities), to qualify market approaches in an ecosystem logic, generating more critical mass and more effective, long-term action;
- Promote capacity building and knowledge transfer on internationalization to support and strengthen SMEs’ external market orientation;
- Encourage the adoption of ESG practices as a condition for SMEs’ success in their internationalization processes;
- Foster cooperation and partnerships with large companies, encouraging collaborative processes and the sharing of internationalization strategies and cooperation mechanisms to seize joint opportunities and integrate into global value chains;
- Identify opportunities and obstacles in accessing new markets and produce relevant information;
- Continuously improve the international image and perception of companies and products from the NUTS II North and Centre regions, through collective international promotion campaigns, adequate media and communication strategies, prospecting activities, and institutional presence at major international trade fairs in the target markets;
- Establish and reinforce partnerships and cooperation with key players in international markets;
- Promote institutional inward missions for the collective dissemination of the regional offer;
- Reduce information asymmetries at the business level regarding internationalization opportunities and strategies, through broad dissemination of project actions, generated knowledge, and results.
