AIDA CCI is one of the Portuguese partners in the BLOCK4COOP project, an initiative developed in collaboration with Spanish and French partners. The project is part of the INTERREG SUDOE V-B programme and aims to implement Blockchain technology in industry, promoting the digital transformation of companies and improving their competitiveness. This project ran until December 2022 and involves the adoption of technologies such as IoT (Internet of Things) and Big Data, enabling significant modernisation of productive and organisational processes in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the participating regions.
BLOCK4COOP focused on facilitating the adoption of advanced technologies by SMEs, fostering innovation in sectors where Blockchain is still considered a new concept. This technology provides greater security, transparency, and efficiency in transactions and industrial processes, with strong potential to optimise companies’ logistics and e-commerce systems. The project also concentrated on building a stable collaborative network between companies, technology centres, startups, and knowledge agents across the southwestern European regions.
Main Activities of BLOCK4COOP:
- Study on technological implementation: Identification of development levels and needs for the implementation of technologies such as Blockchain, IoT, and Big Data in participating companies.
- Awareness workshops: Practical sessions to train companies on the advantages of Blockchain and advanced technologies.
- Personalised business diagnostics: Companies received diagnostics that helped them adapt their digital strategies based on their specific technological needs.
- Interactive Catalogue of Best Practices: Creation of a digital catalogue documenting best practices in Blockchain application within the industrial sector.
- Working groups: Establishment of regional and transregional working groups to promote networking and knowledge exchange among the project stakeholders.
This joint effort helped establish a solid infrastructure for technological cooperation and business innovation, enabling SMEs in the participating regions to adapt to the challenges of digital transformation. BLOCK4COOP not only increased production efficiency but also fostered the creation of new business initiatives, contributing to the sustainable growth and international competitiveness of the Portuguese, Spanish, and French companies involved.
By supporting the integration of advanced technologies, the project made a significant impact on the modernisation of industry in strategic sectors, preparing SMEs for a more connected and digital future.
