Interaveiro
The Inter Aveiro project – “Internationalising the Aveiro Region”, was submitted under the Call for Proposals “Centro-52-2015-01” within the Collective Actions Support System for “Internationalisation”. It covers the following areas: Market research, knowledge and access to new markets; Collaborative internationalisation processes, knowledge sharing and capacity building for internationalisation; and International promotion of tourist destinations and other products or facilities linked to the region, including high-performance centres.
This project is being developed in partnership with CIRA – Intermunicipal Community of the Aveiro Region, and UA – University of Aveiro, during the period from January 2016 to December 2017.
Its goal is to establish Aveiro as an entrepreneurial and competitive region in terms of knowledge, value-added products and services, by promoting it as a centre of expertise and showcasing the business dynamics and knowledge generated through business and scientific-technical system exchanges, engaging “diaspora entrepreneurs” as ambassadors and privileged interlocutors with the markets in which they operate.
Objectives
Increase international institutional and business exchange:
– Promote exchanges with diaspora entities
– Conduct institutional visits to diaspora countries
Foster knowledge sharing and SME capacity building for internationalisation:
– Produce studies on the Portuguese diaspora in the project’s target markets
– Develop a Support Guide for Cooperation Networks
– Hold specific seminars on the project’s target markets
– Organise specialised workshops on “procurement” (Germany and France)
– Develop a Knowledge Internationalisation Programme through missions abroad; active participation and representation in international excellence networks
– Attract high-growth potential companies and/or those with a multiplying effect in the region (national and international mapping of high-potential companies; facilitate contacts to identify international business opportunities; provide legal, economic, and social information about the Aveiro Region to attract, support and retain high-potential companies)
– Organise workshops on “Elevator Pitch” (Germany and France)
Promote, in an integrated way, the international presence of Portuguese goods and services:
– Create a marketing and communication plan
– Conduct reverse trade missions (France and Germany)
– Participate institutionally in international fairs (promotional tools e.g. promotional video “From Aveiro”)
– Implement an investment attraction platform and business space promotion
Funding
Supported by the Regional Operational Programme for the Centre under the Priority Axis “Competitiveness and internationalisation of the regional economy” (COMPETIR) and the Thematic Objective “Enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises”, the project has an approved investment of €420,856.08.
