The IQPME Project – Innovation and Qualification of SMEs, promoted by AIDA CCI, aimed to qualify SMEs through the implementation of organisational efficiency methodologies (such as LEAN and SixSigma) and Branding (brand strengthening), with the goal of improving the competitiveness and flexibility of companies in the global market. The project ran from July 2015 to December 2017 with a total eligible cost of €311,317.63, of which €172,002.99 were funded by the ERDF, under the Portugal 2020 programme.
A total of 15 companies participated in the project. Of these, 11 focused on organisational efficiency (LEAN and SixSigma), while the other 4 took part in Branding activities, creating a joint action plan to improve their responsiveness.
Main Activities:
- Organisational Efficiency (LEAN and SixSigma): Companies were trained in methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing (organisation of production sectors, Lean logistics, Pull systems, among others) and SixSigma (improvement of product and process quality).
- Branding: Companies focused on communication and design received Branding diagnostics and support in developing corporate and product brands, reinforcing their market presence.
Expected Results:
- Increased process efficiency: Improved product quality and cost reduction through the implementation of LEAN and SixSigma.
- Brand strengthening: Branding companies recognised the importance of a strong and distinctive brand for building a unique and innovative business.
- Enhanced competitiveness: The adoption of these methodologies helped companies face the challenges of the global market and increase their export potential.
The project concluded with seminars for the dissemination of best practices, focusing on Brand Management and Organisational Efficiency, strengthening innovation and competitiveness among the participating companies.
