Public Consultation | Export Barriers Nigeria and Kenya
AIDA CCI’s Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), in collaboration with the DGAE – Directorate-General for Economic Activities, invites companies to participate in the Public Consultation | Export Barriers Nigeria and Kenya. The collected information will be discussed at the next meeting of the European Commission’s Advisory Committee.
This survey is essential for European economic diplomacy to act on removing obstacles that harm the competitiveness of national companies. The European Commission aims to update its registry of barriers and requires direct feedback from economic operators.
AIDA CCI requests the collaboration of all exporters to complete the occurrence reporting form by February 13, 2026.
Current Situation: What is at stake?
The analysis focuses on two strategic African markets with distinct realities regarding protectionism and regulation:
- Nigeria: There are currently six active barriers identified in the EU Portal. The most affected sectors include Pharmaceuticals and Mining. Also notable are cross-cutting barriers associated with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Programme, which imposes pre-shipment certification and mandatory annual electronic registration, as well as complex customs procedures.
- Kenya: Currently presents no active barriers registered in the EU portal. However, it is crucial to validate whether there are “on-the-ground” difficulties that have not yet been officially identified.
Why should you participate?
Your response will enable a more assertive approach with the European Commission to resolve these obstacles. If your company faces unjustified costs, border delays, or disproportionate certification requirements, now is the time to act.
Key Information
- Response Deadline: Until 13 February 2026.
- Format: Completion of the barrier identification table/form.
- Official Consultation: You can view barrier details on the Access2Markets Portal.
