AIDA CCI Launches Public Consultation Free Trade Agreement with the UAE
AIDA CCI, through its activity in the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and in collaboration with DGAE – the General Directorate for Economic Activities, invites companies to share their input on the future Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the European Union and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Your perspective is crucial for defining the national position in this negotiation framework, and contributions can be submitted until October 10, 2025.
Objectives of the Agreement and Consultation
The European Union is negotiating a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the UAE, which is expected to include ambitious commitments regarding market access. To ensure that the interests of the Portuguese business community are properly represented, this consultation aims to gather information on the following points:
- Identify market access barriers: Pinpoint challenges affecting trade (in goods or services), investment, or the participation of national companies in public procurement in the UAE.
- Analyze import barriers: Assess the existence of obstacles to the import of raw materials and components from the UAE that are necessary for national production.
- Evaluate sensitivities to competition: Measure the impact of competition from products and services originating in the United Arab Emirates within the EU market.
