SIID Call: Financial Support for Intellectual and Industrial Property Protection
AIDA CCI informs that the SIID Call – Protection of Intellectual and Industrial Property is now open, an initiative promoted under Portugal 2030 and managed by ANI – National Innovation Agency as the Intermediate Body.
This financial support is aimed at assisting startups, SMEs, and Small Mid Caps that develop innovative technologies and wish to protect their intellectual property by registering patents, utility models, and industrial designs.
Objective and Eligible Application Types
This call aims to strengthen the innovation capacity and valuation of Portuguese companies by supporting the registration of industrial property rights at national, European, and international levels. Eligible applications include:
- Patents, utility models, and designs/models submitted to INPI;
- Applications with foreign national administrations (with or without Portuguese priority);
- European patent applications via INPI or the EPO;
- National phase entries of international (PCT) applications;
- Community design/model applications submitted to EUIPO.
Note: The initial phase of international applications will only be supported upon the conclusion of entry into national phases.
Eligibility and Funding
Who can apply?
Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small-medium capitalization companies (Small Mid Caps), provided they meet the criteria of Decree-Law No. 20-A/2023.
Funding Conditions
- Support Type: Grant (non-refundable).
- Maximum Rate: 50% (Lisbon: 40%).
- Total Budget: €2,825,000.
Eligible Expenses
Includes official registration fees, fees and expenses for application validation, and certification expenses by a certified accountant.
Applications and Deadlines
Applications must be submitted via the Balcão dos Fundos platform. The submission period is divided into two phases:
- 1st Phase: until July 31, 2025 (6 PM).
- 2nd Phase: until December 30, 2025 (6 PM).
