The Metal Empreende Project, developed by AIDA CCI in partnership with ANEME, was created to encourage and stimulate entrepreneurship, promoting the attraction and development of business talent in the metallurgy and electromechanics sectors, without excluding other related or cross-cutting areas. This project, funded by the ERDF under the Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation, ran from January 2016 to March 2018, and aimed to help entrepreneurs develop business plans and create successful companies.
With a total eligible cost of €294,883.08, of which €250,650.61 was funded by the European Union, the project aimed to support the creation of startups aligned with market needs by providing access to mentors and potential investors.
Main Activities:
- Call for Action: Identification of business opportunities in the metallurgy and metalworking sectors through surveys and business visits. Editions of the Call for Action competition were held, selecting business ideas with job creation potential.
- Entrepreneur Training (Bootcamp): In-person sessions held in Leiria and Aveiro to help entrepreneurs turn their ideas into viable business plans, with the support of mentors and investors.
- Business Matchmaking Arenas: Pitch sessions between entrepreneurs and potential investors to validate business feasibility and foster partnerships. The top three ideas from each edition received a monetary prize of €2,500 to support business creation.
Expected Results:
Metal Empreende enabled the creation of 12 new companies and the development of self-employment, acting as a catalyst for labour market integration. The project focused on fostering innovative businesses and enhancing human resources aligned with the needs of the industrial sector.
